THE SEATTLE INTERNATIONAL NARCOTICS ANONYMOUS CONVENTION
SINAC is getting closer, and many of the committee's efforts are bearing fruit. We have managed to raise enough funds via fundraising to pay for the site. We are very proud of the outstanding work done by a lot of members working on the various fundraising events. It proves that by working together we can do things that no one of us could ever attempt alone!
The effort is now shifting from fundraising to detailed planning and to selling registration packages. Like most conventions, SINAC is to a large extent funded by people buying registrations. We have made it easier to purchase a registration by developing the capability (new this year) to buy registration packages online (note: online registration is now closed), right from the SINAC Web site, even including paying with credit card.
Once again, our speakers are being chosen from NA members who got clean in other countries. As of this writing, I am not personally sure which speakers have been chosen, but I am really excited to hear them. I know we had some exceptional candidates!
Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions at all. We love hearing from you.

As we move into a new year which is the beginning of a whole new decade, we would like to congratulate you all on making it through another holiday season in recovery, and to wish you all a Happy New Year! The SINAC II host committee continues to work on Seattle's next convention. This update is the place to stay tuned to what's going on with all of the preparation work being done by the SINAC II host committee.
The 2010 convention brochure is complete and has gone to press. It includes details on dates, a day-by-day breakdown of all convention events and entertainment, location, this year's new logo and theme, and much more. We think it is very bright and positive and we'd like to thank Nick, Andy and all the others who worked hard on it. Nick took the approval version of the pamphlet artwork to the Seattle ASC for approval this month and the general consensus was that they liked it. Look for the brochure a little later in January!
For those looking to register or purchase convention-related merchandise, registration is now online. We also now have a list of recommended hotels and rates on our hotels page.
The Committee is working on arranging for convention speakers. In keeping with the SINAC tradition of international recovery, we look for speakers with substantial clean time who got clean outside of the USA. If you know of anyone who meets those requirements, please email their contact information to programming@seattlenaconvention.org.
We are also looking for more ambassadors. Don't know what that means? Click on the tab on the left margin of the SINAC web site which says "Ambassador Program" for information about this program. If you know of someone who may make a good ambassador for SINAC II, please send their information to ambassador@seattlenaconvention.org.
I wanted to share my personal viewpoint on our tradition of using international speakers. We are blessed in this country to be the birthplace of Narcotics Anonymous, and naturally we have many more members with long periods of clean time than other countries. Yet I found listening to recovering addicts who got clean elsewhere to be even more fascinating than our celebrated speakers, as they portrayed recovery from a different cultural perspective than ours. I went from being ho-hum about the international speaker concept before last years convention, to being an enthusiastic supporter of the idea! This is one of the ways that Seattle's own SINAC convention tries to differentiate ourselves from the many other conventions in our region, and we're proud to carry on this tradition going forward! We're excited about SINAC II and we hope your plans this July include attending our convention!

November '09 Update
THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 2009
We want to first thank all those who attended the 2009 convention. What a great success! And an extra special thank you to the folks who traveled from all over the country and beyond. You truly made it an international convention!
We're getting excited about the upcoming convention in July. The host committee is already very busy planning both convention details and upcoming pre-convention activities. Check out the pre-convention page for upcoming events and fundraising activities.
The host committee listened to concerns about last year's pricing in general and we took that into account. We are lowering prices where we can. We'll have all that info for you in the next update.
We also have a logo contest running now. See the post below for details and download the flyer.
We'll give you another update in December.
